Thailand invites Indian investors to several industries

BANGKOK, Nov 16 (TNA) -- Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang encouraged Indian investors to take part in many industries of Thailand as there is still large room for both countries to expand mutual business. In her speech at an event "Make in India and Business Opportunity in Thailand" at Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok on Nov 16, Ms Atchaka said Thailand and India were always good business partners and India was the biggest trading partner of Thailand in South Asia with mutual trade value of US$8.6 billion last year. She encouraged India to invest in automobile, electrical, electronic, telecommunications, clean petrochemical, digital, processed agriculture, textile and garment industries. Ms Atchaka also said that a handful of Thai businesspeople invested in India as their investment was the 35th biggest there. Thai ambassador to India Chalit Manityakul said there was plenty of room for Thailand and India to further expand their mutual investment and economic cooperation and the expansion could happen if Thai and Indian investors received enough and clear information. The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects about 1 million Indian tourists to visit Thailand this year. About 93,000 Thai travelers go to India. From 2009 to 2014, 564 Indian movies were shot in Thailand including 54 last year. (TNA)
