WISTA elects first Bahraini as a board member

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WISTA) has elected the Bahraini Ahmed Al Hujairy as a member of its Board of Directors for the next three years. The elections which was held in Kuala Lumpur witnessed the participation of 15 candidates from different nationalities. Al Hujairy will contribute to charting the overall directions for the development of the ICT industry globally through reports, recommendations and events held by WITSA, which is highly regarded by technical decision-makers in the public and business sectors as well as by international organizations. "I will strive to achieve the alliance's objectives through this membership, including facilitating global trade and investment in technical products and services through the network of international alliances and fostering cooperation through the sharing of knowledge, expertise, and information. This is in addition to holding global innovation awards to recognize deserving technology expertise around the world," Al Hujairy said. "Becoming a WISTA board member will enable me to establish a new and productive communication channel between Bahrain's technology industry and the leaders of this illustrious alliance." "Participating in WITSA is crucial for highlighting the level of development of Bahrain's ICT industry and boosting its contribution to GDP as a real partner in the government of Bahrain's goal of diversifying sources of income within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its economic recovery plan," he said. Al Hujairy affirmed that this membership will also invest in localizing international best practices related to the ICT industry in Bahrain and inviting the alliance to hold technical events in Bahrain or participate in existing events.
