BAC sponsors Spring of Culture 2019, offers airport as venue

Manama, Mar. 3 (BNA): Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) is a Silver Sponsor of the Spring of Culture 2019, and for the first time is offering Bahrain International Airport (BIA) as a venue for the Kingdom’s largest annual art and culture festival. Now in its 14th year, the festival, which takes place from February to April, offers more than 60 events, including concerts, performing arts and visual arts held at prestigious modern and historical venues around the Kingdom. Among them are the Bahrain National Museum, the Cultural Hall, the Art Centre, the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre, and now the BIA Arrivals hall, which was used recently for a performance by the Hot Potato Band, an Australian 8-piece brass band performing a unique repertoire of ska, blues, funk, pop, reggae, Afro-Cuban and folk influenced music. The event was a free pop up show open to the public. BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said: "We are proud to support the Spring of Culture and to contribute in organising one of the shows. In line with our own objectives and that of the Economic Development Board (EDB), the festival is a key tourist attraction which presents a diverse range of high quality family friendly acts. We hope to continue to support public events with the opening of the New Passenger Terminal Building, which will provide an even better venue for such activities and promote the Kingdom as a favoured cultural and touristic destination." Launched in 2006, the Spring of Culture has gathered a large following over the years, becoming the second most anticipated event in Bahrain after the Formula One Grand Prix, selling out most of its shows. It attracts a wide audience base from within the Kingdom and also abroad.
