Baritone G.Ariunbaatar becomes Cultural Messenger of Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Grand Prix Winner of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition G.Ariunbaatar gave his concert dubbed “Mongol Songodog 2” (Mongolian Classic 2) December 19 at the Central Palace of Culture. The baritone soloist sang the great compositions by P.I.Tchaikovsky, N.Jantsannorov, Edward Greg and others. He also cheered the audience with Figaro’s aria from The Barber of Seville, which was performed at the finals of this year’s Tchaikovsky competition. G.Ariunbaatar has officially become a soloist of Operatic Theatre of Ulan-Ude, the Russian Republic of Buryatia, and is to sign a job agreement with the Mariinsky theatre of Russian Saint Petersburg on the threshold of the next year. During the "Mongol Songodog 2", the Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold ceremoniously handed him a certificate of Mongolia’s Cultural Messenger along with a diplomatic passport, allowing him thus to enter more than 20 countries without visas. A Cultural messenger is responsible for advertizing abroad his/her homeland through arts and sports and for assisting in academic researches. G.Ariunbaatar posted a few days ago a letter sent to him from the Prince Charles and the Royal family of the United Kingdom which notifies that the Prince is looking forward to hearing him sing again at the Mariinsky theatre. After the victory at the Tchaikovsky competition, G.Ariunbaatar went on a tour through the USA and Western Europe. During the tour, he performed at the Buckingham Palace and had dinner with the Royal family.
