DFI Names British Movies to be Screened in April, May

Doha, April 24 (QNA) - Doha Film Institute (DFI) will continue to screen major British movies in April and May, a part of the Qatar-U.K. 2013 program. The series kick off on Thursday and Friday with the screening of Mike Leigh's "Secrets and Lies," which won Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or in 1996, and Ken Loach's BAFTA Film Awards winner "Kes." DFI resumes the series on May 30 and 31, showing the 2011 release "Attack the Block," directed by Joe Cornish. May screenings will conclude with the screening of three short movies of Nick Park's animation series "Wallace and Gromit." The titles are "Wallace and Gromit in The Wrong Trousers," "Wallace and Gromit in A Close Shave," and "Wallace and Gromit in 'A Matter of Loaf and Death'." DFI launched the series in February in partnership with the British Council in Doha and Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) to celebrate the Qatar-U.K. 2013 initiative.
