Dimsum Collaborates With Four Top Asian Broadcasters

By Massita Ahmad SINGAPORE, Dec 4 (Bernama) – dimsum, a Malaysian subscription video-on-demand service, celebrated its first anniversary by inking four landmark deals with top Asian broadcasters at the Asia TV Forum and Market held here recently. dimsum signed with GMM Grammy (Thailand), Celestial Tiger Entertainment (Hong Kong), Ani-One (Hong Kong) and Asia Travel (Taiwan). “It is a major milestone for dimsum as we have major regional partners coming in. This time around we have four at one go,” Chief Marketing Officer of dimsum, Lam Swee Kim told Bernama. dimsum is operated by SMG Entertainment Sdn Bhd, formerly known as Star Online Sdn Bhd, which is part of Star Media Group, focusing on Asian content delivered via mobile applications and the web browser. The content on dimsum focuses on drama series and shows from the best content partners across Asia. “We are looking for more partnerships especially on content. We are focusing a lot on East Asian country. China and Singapore are big for us, as well as Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan,” said Lam. Since its launch in November 2016, dimsum has obtained exclusive rights from China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan. Its library of content include movies, dramas, documentaries, variety and kids shows from China, Japan Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. On dimsum’s one-year performance, Lam noted that “the performance was great and it was a busy year for us. “ We are meeting our target. The whole 12 months has been about distribution, payment and integration with other telecommunications companies,” she said, adding dimsum had also integrated with Samsung Smart TV and was also accessible via Chromecast and AirPlay. “We are also working a lot with loyalty programmes such as Grab, AirAsia BIG and banks,” she added. dimsum offers high-definition content with access to five concurrent users across multiple devices with an option to download for offline viewing.
