Finas Promotes Local Works At Berlin European Film Market

BERLIN, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- A chilly four degrees Celsius greeted the Malaysian delegation here for the European Film Market (EFM) Berlin, aiming to foray into the international market. Led by National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Md Afendi Hamdan, the delegation which comprised marketing officers, journalist and local producers including Norman Abdul Halim of KRU Studios, will promote and market local films such as The Vikingdom, Ribbit and The Malay Chronicles. "Malaysia must be here as it's a platform to build contacts to market our products. There's great potential. "We realise producers cannot do it on their own as the cost is high, just a booth at the festival alone is RM50,000," Md Afendi said when met by Malaysian reporters on Wednesday. The Finas booth at the Marriott Hotel Berlin was being visited by quite a crowd since morning. EFM is the global industry players main platform for international movies and is held simultaneously with the Berlin International Film Festival, which is one of the most famous film festivals in the world. -- BERNAMA
