Indian High Commission, Telugu Association of Malaysia Organise Telugu Food Festival

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The Indian High Commission and the Telugu Association of Malaysia are organising the Telugu Food Festival here, in conjunction with the ongoing Festival of India 2015. India's High Commissioner to Malaysia T. S. Tirumurti said the food festival at the Grand Seasons hotel here would begin Friday. "Two well-known chefs are already in Malaysia for the next two weeks. They are specially flown from India to ensure the authenticity and originality of Telugu cuisine,” he said in his address at the launching of the food fest here Thursday night. Federal Territories Deputy Minister, Dr M. Loga Bala Mohan launched the event. Among the special main courses are ‘gongura mamsam’ lamb cooked with Roselle leaves, ‘dum ka murgh’ chicken slow cooked in hyderabadi style and ‘chepala pulusu’ fish cooked in tangy tamarind gravy. Meanwhile, Telugu Association of Malaysia vice-president Satiah Suthakaran, who is also Telugu Food Festival chairman, believed the event would bring the comunities of the two countries closer. The food festival will be held until June 14, at the O'las Indian Restaurant, serving buffet dinner from 7pm to 10.30pm. The inaugural Festival of India 2015 in Malaysia from mid-March until June-end showcases India's rich culture through multiple events, complementing Malaysia's Year of Festivals 2015 celebration.
