Indonesian Singer, Ariel Peterpan Allowed To Work Outside Of Prison

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Indonesian singer Ariel Peterpan, who is serving time for his role in the production and distribution of a pornographic video, has been allowed to work outside the prison pending his release in July. He is now working with an architecture firm in Bandung district under an assimilation and counselling programme prior to his release. The vocalist of the Peterpan group, whose real name is Nazril Ilham, started with the programme last Jan 16. During the duration of the programme, he is monitored by the Kebon Waru Bandung prison warden and is not allowed to perform, play music or be interviewed by the media. Ariel was sentenced to three years and six months jail and fined Rp250 million (US$27.8 thousand) by the Bandung District Court after he was found guilty of making and distributing the pornographic videos. He had been serving the jail sentence at the Kebon Waru Bandung prison since June 2010. -- BERNAMA
