Italian Architect Magistretti's Creations To Be Exhibited In Jakarta
JAKARTA, Sept 9 (Antara) - A number of creations of the Italian architect Vico Magistretti will be exhibited at the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in Jakarta in an exhibition entitled, "A Traveling Archive" to commemorate 10 years of the departure of the maestro.
The exhibition opened today, but will be open to the public from September 9 to October 7.
Director of the Italian Cultural Center Michela Magri told Antara here on Thursday that the exhibition is dedicated to architects and designers from Milan that contributed to the success of Italian design in the world.
"My expectation is that students and architects can see the exhibition and we can promote Italian architecture and characters, such as Vico Magistretti," she said.
According to her, the creations of the architect are known for their simple design and continue to be produced until now.
The Eclisse table lamp, for example, said Michela, continues to be produced even though Vico designed it in 1966.
"Now, we can show it off in Jakarta, a few years ago it was also in Los Angeles and Paris, which means people want to know more about Magistretti though he died 10 years ago," she said.
Known for their simplicity, Vico's designs, which include table lamps, bookshelves, chairs and kitchen interiors, and contemporary looks, were created decades ago.
In addition to showcasing the creations of the maestro, the exhibition will also play several videos, including a 40-minute interview with Vico describing the theory and design, as well as the judgment of an observer of Vico's work.
The work space architect was born in 1920, whose pictures and scribbled ideas will also be featured in the exhibition.
