Katara Welcomes Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism of Congo Brazzaville

Doha, April 11 (QNA) - Celebrating the African culture, Katara, the Cultural Village today presented the African Music Vector of Authenticity and Factor of Emergence lecture hosted by HE Jean Claude Gakosso, Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism of Congo Brazzaville. The seven-day festival, running from the 7th - 13th April is set to showcase the best of African art, dance, music and film. The festival will also feature an African Arts Fair and African Art Workshops from 4-7pm throughout the duration of the festival. The Minister of said, "We are delighted to be here in Qatar, the festival serves as a platform for knowledge exchange allowing us to share our culture through music, arts, dance and film. The festival has brought together communities who share similar cultures and allows them to celebrate as one. We look forward to collaborating with Qatar on future projects." The festival showcases the African Circus which features the Kenyan Boys, a team composed of musicians, dancers, acrobats, fire performers and contortionists. In addition the Jam Stage provides upcoming musicians and singers an opportunity to play instruments on a live stage which later showcases live performances of dance; music and percussion. Commenting on the occasion, General Manager of Katara, Khalid al Sulaiti said, "We are delighted to see thousands attending the events and activities which celebrate all aspects of African culture. The festival represents the emerging cultural community of Qatar, bringing together people from all corners of the earth, we aim to inform, educate and entertain." Proving to be a great success is the Cine Zone which will screen a total of 20 films highlighting African history and art through an array of traditional, folkloric and modern art expressions. The African Parade Caravanes des Rhythmes will showcase African costumes accompanied by percussions, music and dance will perform on the streets of Katara from the 11th 13th from 7- 10pm on the Esplanade.
