Renowned Venezuelan Flutist Huascar Barradas To Perform During Venezuelan Week

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Internationally-known Venezuelan flutist Huascar Barradas will perform for the first time here in conjunction with the seventh Venezuelan Week starting April 16. Barradas, a 2011 Latin Grammy nominee, with two other Venezuelan musicians, Jorge Polanco and Elvis Martinez, will be performing at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall on April 23, Venezuela embassy's charge d'affaires to Malaysia, Luisa Elena Lopez Hernandez told a press conference, here, Tuesday. She said Barradas would showcase Venezuelan neo-folklore music, and would also conduct two workshops on Venezuelan music, with on April 19 and 25. "It will be a great opportunity for Malaysians to understand the traditional and contemporary harmony, ensemble performance and arrangement of Venezuelan rhythms," she said. Hernandez said there would also be a cultural performance between Venezuelan and Malaysian cultural groups. As part of the 14-day event, a Gastronomic Festival will also be held from April 16 to 29 as well as a Venezuelan documentary screening and photography exhibition from April 23 to 26. -- BERNAMA
