Russian Performance Dazzles Katara Visitors

Doha, May 10 (QNA) - As part of the "Cultural Diversity Festival" activities, the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has organized in cooperation with the UNESCO office in Doha, a folklore performance by the Russian group "Stanitsa", at Katara's Esplanade on Monday and Tuesday. In a passionate technique, "Stanitsa" innovatively performed a number of cultural performances that represented the life-style of the Kuban region. The performers greeted the audience with a military performance entitled: "March", followed by "Kazachok" which is a traditional dance from southern Russia. In addition, the performers continued to amuse the visitors with an artistic show, in which they used Cossacks in their performance. Other folkloric performances included: Small Pillow, "Naurskaia" performance originated from the North Caucasus, and "Pleskach" show that represented the Black Sea region. Some of the artistic yet comedian performances that received a virtuous interaction from Katara's audience, included: "The Kiev Guys", which is referred to be a comic and amusing performance, and "When Cossacks Cry". Furthermore, the performers continued with other folkloric performances entitled: "Breeze" and "Molodychika" which is traditional Cossack performance which is usually implemented in wedding ceremonies. "Stanitsa" is a Russian folkloric group that was originally formed in 1990, and was established based on the House of Culture and Sports of the Elizavetinskaia village of Krasnodar. The traditional folkloric group "Stanitsa", represents the culture of southern Russia, specifically Kuban. The performer's main aim is the preservation, development and promotion of traditional culture through a performance entitled "The National Cossack Performance". In 1995, the team attained the title of "People's amateur group". In 2000, "Stanitsa" was classified as the best amateur group in their region, which led the performers to regularly perform in all the regional events. The culture of Kuban is considered to be a fusion of the Ukrainian, Russian and North Caucasian cultures. As Kataras "Cultural Diversity Festival" ongoing activities are attracting a wide audience of art and culture fans, the Cultural Village Foundation has also announced its hosting an African folkloric performance specifically from Burkina Faso at Katara's Esplanade, on the 15th and 16th of May.
