Star Trek Series Visual Effect Producer Shares His Expertise, Knowledge

IPOH (Perak, Malaysia), March 5 (Bernama) -- The visual effect producer of the Star Trek series, Dan Curry on Monday shared his expertise and experience on animation and visual effects with 50 people during a meet-and-greet session, here. The seven-time Emmy Award winner also share his tips on creating visual effects with the audience mostly comprising multimedia students and animation and visual effects enthusiasts. "I look at objects but not as what they are and what they could be. A water pipe can be visualised as a pipe for an engine part," he said during Meet-and-Greet session organised by Spacetoon Malaysia, here. Curry (picture), who is most famous for his work on Star Trek series like 'The Next Generation', 'Deep Space Nine', 'Voyager' and ' Enterprise' also said computers were just a tool which had limited capabilties but the human mind could do beyond that in creating ideas. The mind could do more by thinking creative ideas, and bring into conceptualisation and rendering into films, he added. He said artists should have trust on their artistic job and story telling capabilities. "In my own art, I try to explore the world of imagination, reinterpret and capture direct experiences to expose inner vision. Craftsmanship and a high quality of execution are very important to me," he added. He was currently working on several projects including a Star Trek project in collaboration with Disney, he added. His visit to Malaysia was accompanied by his son, Devin, a producer from Hollywood. Spacetoon Malaysia is a joint-venture company between Global New Age Media Group (Spacetoon International), Perak E-Organanisation and K-Perak Inc which aimed to set up a state of the art technology creative hub providing animation, CGI productions and training facilties in Malaysia.
