Masdar to host thousands of Emirati students at World Future Energy Summit

Abu Dhabi, Jan 10, 2013 (WAM) - Thousands of Emirati high school and university students from across the UAE will attend the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) and International Water Summit (IWS) to be held here January 15 to 17 as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Students will meet and interact with industry experts from around the world to learn about renewable energy, clean technology, water scarcity and sustainable development.
They will also be given an opportunity to learn about critical issues, such as water conservation, energy efficiency and clean technology development.
Industry partners Japanese Pavilion, ExxonMobil and Shell Gas are among those already confirmed to participate and engage with students. Each company will join Masdar in welcoming the students for presentations, quizzes and interactive displays during the summit.
WFES is the world's foremost annual gathering for the renewable energy and sustainability technologies industry. It brings together the most prominent industry leaders, government officials, ministers, technology experts and visitors to discuss the future of renewable energy in the region and beyond.
During the first-ever International Water Summit, government leaders, policy makers and NGOs will explore the nexus between water and energy. The summit will gather influential water experts to discuss how resources can be used more efficiently, and identify the policies and technologies needed to encourage water access and conservation.
Both events are part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) - the largest gathering on sustainability in the history of the Middle East. Taking place January 13-17, ADSW will address the interconnected challenges that affect the global adoption of renewable energy and sustainable development.
ADSW will include five integrated events: the third general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); the sixth World Future Energy Summit; the International Renewable Energy Conference; the International Water Summit; and the fifth Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony. Other events that will take place as part of ADSW will include the first energy ministerial of South American and Arab countries (ASPA) and the Global Green Growth Institute Council meeting. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
