The FM Discusses With His Iranian Counterpart The Political Situation In The Region
Baghdad / NINA / -Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, the political situation in the region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: “Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, met with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly at its 78th session in New York,” noting that “during the meeting, a number of issues of common interest were discussed.”
The Iranian Minister appreciated "the visit of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to Tehran last Wednesday, which resulted in consolidating joint cooperation and reaching the start of implementing the security agreement between the two countries, as the Iraqi government took the initiative, in joint work with the Kurdistan Regional Government, to take the necessary measures in this framework."
He continued: "The two sides discussed developments in US-Iranian relations, as five American citizens were released in exchange for the release of funds held by South Korea, amounting to about (6) billion Euros," noting that "the two sides discussed during the meeting the political situation and security issues in the region and Iranian-Gulf relations, in a way that enhances the security and stability of the region.”/End
