11 Locked In Bathroom In Jakarta Robbery, Six Suffocated

JAKARTA, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Six robbery victims died from suffocation after they were locked with five others in a small bathroom overnight in a house in Pulamas Utara, Pulogadung, here. East Jakarta police CID chief, Sapta Maulana said the robbers had cramped the 11 people into the 1.5 metre by 1.5 metre bathroom and the door was locked from the outside, since Monday. Sapta was quoted by local online media on Tuesday as saying that the incident was only discovered after a female relative came visiting about 10am Tuesday and found the house gate and door ajar, and heard cries for help from inside the house. The relative contacted the police who found six of the victims dead and five were rushed to hospital for treatment. Sapta said the dead were the houseowner, Dodi Triono, 59, an architect, his two daughters Diona Arika Andra Putri, 16, and Dianita Gemma Dzalfayla, 9, two drivers in their 40's and a man believed to be the son of Dodi's friend. The five injured victims were identified as Emi, a 41-year-old woman, Dodi's other daughter, Zanette Kalila Aazaria, 13, and his three housemaids, Fitriyanim, Windy and Santi aged between 22 and 23. So far, police have not confirmed the items stolen and were still investigating and gathering evidence. --BERNAMA
