Al-Kadhimi And Al-Khasawneh Lay The Foundation Stone For The Iraqi-Jordanian Electrical Interconnection Project

Baghdad / NINA / - Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and his Jordanian counterpart, Bishr Hani Al-Khasawneh, laid, today, Thursday, the cornerstone of the Iraqi-Jordanian electrical interconnection project. Al-Kadhimi stressed, according to a statement of his media office, that the project would secure the path of energy exchange between Iraq and Jordan, which is a true reflection of the policy of openness and cooperation adopted by this government. On the sidelines of the inauguration of the project, the two sides held a bilateral meeting, during which they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations and develop regional cooperation in light of the tripartite Baghdad summit, in which the leaders of Jordan, Egypt and Iraq participated. The meeting witnessed a discussion of the implementation of the agreements concluded between the two countries and their implementation, especially in the areas of electrical connection, agriculture, transportation, food security, and in the field of financial and banking relations, and the development of their infrastructure. The two sides expressed the keenness of the governments of Iraq and Jordan to develop bilateral work mechanisms, in a way that integrates with the horizon of regional work and sustainable development, as well as efforts to prepare for the upcoming tripartite summit, and the political, economic, and security files that will be addressed. The Prime Minister continued: "Today, Iraq enjoys great confidence, weight and presence. We are trying to invest this privacy, and this opportunity, in the service of Iraq and the Iraqis, noting:" This government, despite the difficult political conditions, the most difficult economic conditions, and despite the absence of a budget, it went on steadily in its vision, and it overcame many obstacles, and it continues to do so tirelessly. He pointed out: "The world has changed, and the concepts of political and economic relations have changed in favor of development and cooperation, and this is what we do when we look for partners and cooperate with them to develop our country and secure the needs of all our people." He added, "With God's blessing, today we are laying the foundation stone for the Iraqi-Jordanian electrical interconnection line project, to devote the project of cooperation and partnership, and positive interaction with our surroundings, in the service of our country and people. It is a true reflection and translation of the policy of openness and cooperation. He added: "We have previously worked on electrical interconnection with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and the agreement was signed at the Jeddah conference a few months ago. We worked on several clean energy projects with reputable international companies, to keep pace with the developments of the times and the challenges of the environment."/ End
