Anti-dumping duty imposed on morpholine from EU, China, US

New Delhi, Jan 31 (PTI) India has imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of morpholine, a chemical used in the rubber industry, from China, the European Union and the US. The duty levied is in the range of USD 0.29-0.81 per kg of the chemical for a period of five years, the Department of Revenue said in a notification. Morpholine is used as a chemical intermediate in the rubber industry. It also finds application in corrosion control and the synthesis of drugs. "The anti-dumping duty imposed shall be levied for a period of five years from the date of imposition of the provisional anti-dumping duty, September 20, 2011," the Department of Revenue said in the notification. The levy has been imposed after the designated authority, the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), a nodal agency under the Commerce Ministry, recommended its imposition following an investigation. In its final findings, the DGAD concluded that the domestic industry has suffered a material injury on account of dumping of the product by these countries. Earlier, the DGAD had imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on the product. PTI
