Bahraini-Kuwaiti parliamentary cooperation discussed

Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh stressed strong and growing relations between Bahrain and Kuwait and the leaderships' keenness to further cement them in various fields, including mainly the legislative one. Speaking at a meeting with Speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim and his accompanying delegation, Al Saleh lauded cooperation between both councils in serving Arab and Islamic issues. He praised the legislations of Kuwait's National Assembly which testify to the glorious democratic process in Kuwait, wishing members of the assembly every success in assuming their national duties and serving the Kuwaiti people. The Shura Council Chairman extended congratulations on the 56th anniversary of Kuwait National Day and the 26th anniversary of the Liberation Day, stressing that the occasion is an opportunity to affirm common destiny of the GCC member states and their unity in braving challenges and crises. He also wished Kuwait continuous progress and prosperity under its leadership. The Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker thanked the Shura Council Chairman for his feelings, stressing that cooperation between the GCC countries is one of the fundamentals of Kuwait's parliamentary diplomacy. He commended the role of the Shura Council in promoting bilateral relations, stressing the need to rally ranks to stave off challenges and confront campaigns targeting regional security and stability. He also voiced Kuwait's appreciation of Bahrain's stances mainly during the occupation period which stand witness to deep-rooted fraternal ties and common destiny. Both sides reviewed issues of common interest as well as regional and international developments.
