Bahraini women's empowerment, needs discussed

Manama, July 27 (BNA): Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa today held a key meeting with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari. The two sides discussed the role of the Equal Opportunities Committee and the integration of women's needs in various programmes, in line with the National Plan for the Development of Bahraini Woman. The meeting focused on the ministry's crucial role in promoting pro-woman legislations in line the 2015 Bahraini Women's Day which was celebrated under the theme "Woman in the Legal and Judicial Fields". Al-Ansari commended the strenuous efforts exerted by the ministry and the Supreme Judicial Council to promote new electronic services and ensure expedite settlement of key issues. She hailed the minister for activating the Equal Opportunities Committee as part of efforts to promote gender equality and integrate women's needs. The minister also commended the SCW-led role, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, in promoting Bahraini women's empowerment and integrating her needs in national programmes, stressing keenness on bolstering the role of the equal opportunity unit.
