BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) - A nationwide bicycling event, called "Bike for Mom 2015", will be held in Thailand on August 16 in honour of Her Majesty Queen's Sirikit 83rd birthday, which falls on August 12 and is also the National Mother's Day. Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, Interior Minister General Anupong Paojinda, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office ML Panadda Diskul and Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdet Sitabutr, who is also Army Chief, told the public of the nationwide event at a press conference held at Bangkok's Government House on Thursday, announcing that His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will also join the grand event. The Thai premier stated that the "Bike for Mom 2015" will be organised simultaneously across the country at 3pm on August 16 (Thailand's time) on specific routes. In Bangkok, the bike ride will start from the Dusit Palace to the 11th Infantry Regiment King's Guard and vice versa, during which His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will lead the overall 43-kilometre bicycle ride. In upcountry, the bike ride will start at each province's city hall to destinations separately decided by each province. The Thai government invites people from all walks of life, including public and private agencies' personnel, the general public and students, to participate in the event and to wear blue shirts, symbolising Friday, the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.
