Body Of Malaysian Mountaineer Arrives At KLIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- The remains of Malaysian mountaineer Syed Redzuan Syed Salim Shatri who was found dead on Mount Damavand in Iran, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang on Monday. Expedition leader, Rozaimi Mohd Said said the body of the 50-year-old arrived at KLIA about 10.30am, after being flown from Tehran early Monday morning. The remains would be sent to the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn (BTHO) Mosque in Cheras for funeral prayer at 3pm before being taken to the BTHO Muslim cemetery for burial, he told Bernama when contacted here. Meanwhile, Rozaimi said the search and rescue (SAR) operations to locate another missing mountaineer, Ramli Abd Majid, 44, in the same region had been temporarily shelved due to bad weather. "As for now, the bad weather has become a hindrance for them (the SAR team). Nevertheless, they will continue to monitor the weather and the mission will be continued if it gets better," he said. On Nov 20, Syed Redzuan and Ramli Abd Majid, 44, were reported missing on the 5,610m-high mountain after being separated from the other members of a hiking team. --BERNAMA
