Capital Governor participates online in China International Import Expo

Manama, Nov. 5 (BNA): Capital Governor Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa participated online today in the opening ceremony of the 3rd China International Import Expo and Hongqiao International Economic Forum. Chinese President Xi Jinping as well as leaders and senior officials from across the world also took part in the event which is scheduled to continue until November 10 in Shanghai, China. The Chinese President stressed in his opening speech China’s keenness to broaden the scope of trade cooperation in light of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on global economies. He called for synergized efforts to face crises and challenges collectively, boost cooperation and promote openness. In a statement, the Capital Governor stressed the pioneering and influential role of China in the international arena thanks to its promising economy. He praised bilateral efforts between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China to bolster cooperation between both countries and further cement ties binding them. He also stressed deep-rooted relations between the Capital Governorate and Chinese cities, like Shenzhen and Hangzhou, and Hebei Province. It is noteworthy that the third China International Import Expo covers an area of 360,000 square meters where the latest food and agricultural products, vehicles, technical equipment, consumer goods, medical devices, health care products, as well as trade in services, smart transportation, energy conservation, and environmental protection are displayed. More than 3,000 companies representing more than 150 countries are taking part to showcase hundreds of new products, technologies and services globally for the first time.
