Challenges Faced By Sportswriters In Asia To Be Main Agenda At AIPS Asia 2017 Congress
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The challenges faced by media practitioners and sportswriters in Asia will be the main agenda during the AIPS Asia Congress to be held here from Feb 27 to March 3.
AIPS Asia vice president Ahmad Khawari Md Isa said the congress would be the platform to discuss the challenges faced by media practitioners to carry out a comprehensive coverage.
"We want to assist media partners, especially those in Asia, to have a good working relationship to broadcast news. We also want the standard and quality of the sports media in Asia to attract global attention," he told reporters at the launch of the 2017 AIPS Asia Congress, here Tuesday.
Ahmad Khawari who is also the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) president said Malaysia were chosen to host the congress by AIPS Asia delegates in Bahrain, last year.
He said the congress would be attended by 25 representatives from sportswriters' associations in Asia.
Meanwhile, AIPS Asia president Muhammad Qassim said the association had been actively working on improving the standard of sports journalism which includes women sportswriters.
"The congress in Kuala Lumpur is important because this is the first congress after the election of the new AIPS Asia leadership in Bahrain. I have full confidence with the ability of SAM who have been working tirelessly to make sure this event will be huge success," said Qassim.
