The Chinese Ambassador: Iraq's Location Is Important To Complete The Silk Road
Baghdad (NINA) - The Chinese ambassador, Cui Wei, confirmed that his country has trade and investments with 140 countries.
In a press conference attended by representatives of a number of media institutions, including NINA, he said that the volume of China's foreign trade and investment rose in 10 years from 0.65 trillion dollars to 0.70 trillion dollars.
Wei stressed that his country's relations with Iraq are a priority and in various fields, and "we seek to strengthen them because of Iraq's distinguished position."
He continued: We are keen to communicate with the new government and Iraqi companies.
The Chinese ambassador, Cui Wei, confirmed that Iraq's location is important for completing the Silk Road.
In response to a question by NINA about the Silk Road and the Faw port, he said: Iraq is an important partner in building and cooperating with the Silk Road.
He added: We cannot say that Iraq's role is limited only to the road.
Wei explained: Chinese companies entered bids for the Faw Port project, but it was referred to a Korean company, and we understand that.
He added, there will be new projects related to the Faw port that will be put up for tender, and Chinese companies will participate in them according to their plans, and the Chinese government supports this matter./End
