Cilacap Prepares Alternative Roads For Holiday Travelers

Cilacap, Central Java, July 1 (Antara) - Several alternative roads will be made ready for the 2014 Lebaran holiday travelers, noted Cilacap district transportation office spokesman Uong Suparno. Suparno remarked that the alternative roads are just the same as those in service in the previous years, but the one, the Karangpucung-Wringinharjo road, is heavily damaged and will take time to have it repaired. "But, in principle, we are preparing several alternative roads, and we hope they will be completed in time to reduce the traffic congestion during the Lebaran holiday exodus this year," he stated here on Tuesday. Suparno has forecast that the number of holiday travelers from West Java to Cilacap using the alternative roads this year will increase significantly. "More holiday travelers from West Java are estimated to take the alternative roads to Cilacap and other areas in Central Java to avoid traffic jams along Central Java`s southern highway," Suparno explained. Therefore, he added that the local transportation office has placed numerous traffic signs along the alternative roads in the district to help the travelers. "But, the roads in the province will need more traffic signs, and we hope the provincial government will soon put them up before the start of the Lebaran holiday exodus," Suparno stated. Suparno pointed out that the alternative roads to anticipate traffic jams along the southern highway from Wanareja in Cilacap district to Wangon in Banyumas district are the Cukangleleus-Sidareja-Wringinharjo-Jeruklegi-Cilacap/Wangon route, Cukangleleus-Sidareja-Wringinharjo-Karangpucung route, Jeruklegi-Cilacap/Wangon route, and Wanareja-Salebu-Majenang route. For the travelers coming from Pangandaran in West Java, Suparno noted that they can take the Rawa Apu-Sidareja-Jeruklegi-Cilacap/Wangon route. The travelers from West Java by way of Banjar city can take the Langensari-Wanareja atau Kota Banjar-Langensari-Kedungreja-Sidareja-Jeruklegi-Wangon/Cilacap route, and those who will head to Java`s northern coastal areas can take the Majenang-Salem-Bumiayu route in Brebes district without passing by Wangon. The travelers who use the Sidareja-Jeruklegi-Wangon/Cilacap alternative road to go to Yogyakarta can take the Cilacap-Adipala-Jetis-Ayah-Karangbolong-Petanahan-Kulon Progo route, Cilacap-Kesugihan-Maos-Sampang route, or Cilacap-Adipala-Kroya-Buntu route in order to avoid the traffic jams.
