Dutch Firm KCAP To Develop Master Plan For Jurong Lake District

SINGAPORE, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has appointed the team led by KCAP Architects & Planners (KCAP) as consultant to develop the detailed master plan for the Jurong Lake District. The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) terminus will be located there and presents an additional opportunity to transform the area into Singapore's second Central Business District and a District of the Future. In a statement Wednesday, URA said the team's proposal received the highest score among the five shortlisted for stage two of the Jurong Lake District Request for Proposal (RFP) exercise. URA launched the RFP exercise in July 2016 to invite multi-disciplinary teams to develop master plan proposals for this key growth area. Out of 35 interested teams, five were shortlisted to proceed to stage two of the RFP. Those shortlisted submitted their conceptual master plan proposals in December 2016. The proposal from the team led by KCAP best met the expectations and requirements of the RFP. The appointed consultant will work with URA and relevant agencies to refine the master plan and draw up detailed proposals for the Jurong Lake District over the next few months. URA said these proposals will be exhibited in mid-2017. Following the exhibition period, URA will work with the appointed consultant to review and incorporate the feedback given on the detailed proposals where appropriate, before finalising the master plan for Jurong Lake District. The appointed consultant team consists of KCAP Architects & Planners, SAA Architects, Arup, S333 and Lekker. KCAP, leading the appointed team, is a Dutch firm based in Rotterdam, with offices in Zurich and Shanghai. It is involved in notable projects such as the master planning of HafenCity in Hamburg, Germany. -- BERNAMA
