Earthquake in Tajikistan

Dushanbe, January 05, 2010 (Khabar) - First official data about the devastation in the region of Tajikistan, Vanj district. Earthquake measuring 5.2 points occurred on January 2. All those days special government commission worked at the emergency site, the State Committee for Emergency Situations of Tajikistan presented its conclusions. According to the Commission, as a result of raging typhoon most extensive destruction took place in four villages of Vanj district, and the district center also suffered from earthquake. A total 1,019 buildings were damaged, including 98 homes, which can not be recovered. 583 persons are left roofless.
Three elementary schools, two health centers are destroyed because of tremors. A few kilometers of road and power lines are also in disrepair.
According to the Committee for emergency situations, there are no victims among the population. The earthquake occurred early in the morning on January 2. The quake was located 320 kilometers east of Dushanbe, in Vanj district. The magnitude of tremors reached 5,5 balls there, in Dushanbe 2 balls.
