Educational Institution Should Not Be Arbitrarily Commercialised

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Educational institution should not be arbitrarily commercialised or traded. This is among the resolutions unanimously agreed upon by the participants of the ASEAN Youth Forum in Istanbul, Turkey recently. President of Malaysian Student Association in Turkey (MASAT) Muhammad Ahmad Zahid said they were of the opinion that the situation would create more profit-driven institutions rather than those with noble objective of developing human capital. He said to turn out empowered and skilled human capitals, they wanted public educational institutions to be improved, so that quality education became the equal right of every individual. "This does not mean that private educational institutions are generally not good. "It's just that we think that it is a heavy responsibility of the government to provide public educational institutions of better quality and can accommodate more students," he told Bernama. The forum, themed 'Education Perspective in ASEAN Countries: Development and Prospect' was participated by 50 university students from ASEAN member countries pursuing their education in Turkey. --BERNAMA
