Emirati children are real wealth of country’s promising future: Reem Al Falasi
ABU DHABI, 14th March, 2018 (WAM) -- Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, SCMC, has said that the majority of the programmes and plans of the Council for children are aimed at creating a suitable environment to raise them on the correct values and principles, preparing them for the future.
In a statement marking the UAE’s celebration of Emirati Children’s Day on 15th March, she said that the UAE has achieved significant successes related to children’s care, due the directives of the wise leadership while adding that the Emirati children enjoy the highest levels of healthcare, as motherhood and childhood centres, specialist hospitals and care centres for people of determination are spread across the country.
Emirati children are also lucky, thanks to the Mother of the Nation, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, who provides them with support, as it is a key priority for the country, she added.
Al Falasi explained that Sheikha Fatima dedicated 15th March of every year to celebrate Emirati children, with the aim of encouraging the country’s institutions and authorities to prioritise children and highlight their needs, as they are the community’s real wealth.
Al Falasi praised the decision of the Ministerial Development Council, led by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and President of the Council, to declare 15th March as the annual Emirati Children’s Day, which confirms the country’s vision and desire to raise future generations who can overcome challenges, in line with the UAE Vision 2021 and its Centennial 2071.
She went on to say that persons with disabilities are being supported by the country’s leadership, Sheikha Fatima and the Council, noting the launch of the National Strategy for Motherhood and Childhood and the Strategic Plan to Promote the Rights of Children of Determination 2017-2021.
Al Falasi said that these programmes aim to help people of determination to overcome and address their problems, help them integrate into the community, and provide them with public and private sector job opportunities.
She also highlighted the positive feedback of the participants at the UN Human Rights Council meeting that was held in Geneva last January, about the UAE’s relevant efforts.
