English Education Discussed With Japan's Crown Prince At Japanese School
KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- English education was among the topics discussed during Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito's visit to the Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur (JSKL), today.
The school principal, Miyatani Shinichiro said the Crown Prince was briefed on the school’s education system, particularly on the English subject as well as the students' performance.
"We have started implementing a new English education system this month, where we don't only focus on English lessons but also English communication as well.
Before this, English lessons were taught for four hours in a week but we have added an extra two hours purposely for English communication among students and teachers ," he said.
Miyatani said the school which was set up to cater for only Japanese students, had eight Malaysian teachers to teach the subject.
During the 10-minute meeting, he said the Crown Prince also expressed his concern about the Japanese students' well being.
“The Prince has expressed his care and concern about the future of the students and how they are adapting themselves in Malaysia.
"But we assured him not to worry as they are well taken care of and most of them are good and are successful students," he said, adding that there were currently 800 students at JSKL.
Earlier, the Crown Prince of Japan who arrived at JSKL at 11am was greeted by hundreds of students before being assisted to the music hall where he was presented with choir performance by 70 students.
