FM official: Relatives of Iranians imprisoned in US sends letter to UN chief

Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Affairs of Iranians Living Abroad Hassan Qashqavi said the letter of the family members of the Iranians imprisoned in the US was submitted to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He said that during the visit to Tehran of the UN chief for the 16th Non-Aligned Summit, a letter was submitted to Ban by the families of Iranians who are in prisons in the US or other countries and are about to be illegally extradited to the US. He said, in the letter, the families called for the release of their beloved ones. According to Qashqavi, the letter stressed that the US government has been setting up unilateral and hegemonic regulations to confront Iran’s nuclear activities. It said authentic reports and clear remarks of the arrests people prove they have been subject to spiritual and physical torture and kept in inhuman conditions. The signotries of the letter further called for the release of their family members.
