Foreign Minister participates in the Paris Peace Conference

Paris, Jan. 15 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the French peace initiative and all efforts directed towards resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; enabling the Palestinian people to enjoy their legitimate rights and establish an independent Palestinian state based on the 4th of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with relevant international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative as a just and all-inclusive framework.
This came in the Foreign Minister’s speech during his participation in the peace conference held today in Paris in the French Republic. The Minister expressed his hope that these peace efforts can lead to a peaceful two-state solution and put an end to the occupation of Arab lands.
The Minister welcomed the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 calling on the Israeli authorities to stop all settlement activities in occupied Palestinian territories. He furthermore called on the international community to support the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative and continue efforts to oblige the Israeli side to adhere to the peace process, so that stability and lasting peace can be achieved in the region.
The Foreign Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the French Republic for its efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
