Former Security Guard Pleads Not Guilty To Charge With Supporting , Promoting Terrorist Group
KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- A woman, who is a former security guard, pleaded not guilty in the High Court here Thursday to charges of supporting and promoting terrorist act.
Zilah Tajuddin, 44, who is single, made the plea before Judge Azman Abdullah.
She was charged with knowingly giving support to the Daesh terrorist group through a Telegram application of a group “Tauhid State” set up by her.
The charge, under Section 130J(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which provide an imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 30 years, or with fine, and shall also be liable to forfeiture of any property used in connection with the commission of the offence, if found guilty.
On the second count, Zilah was charged with knowingly promoting terrorist act through the same group using the Telegram application.
The offences were allegedly committed at a house at Jalan Cenderawasih, Kg Dato Ahmad Said Tambahan 2, Kinta, Perak, between July 5 and 13, 2016.
For the second count, the woman was charged under Section 130G(a) of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 30 years and is also liable to fine, if found guilty.
The court set May 18 for mention for submission of documents and for the woman to appoint a lawyer.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Azlina Rasdi.
