Forum of women’s organizations of Kazakhstan
Astana, August 26, 2009 (Khabar) - Strengthening the role of women in social, economic and, most importantly, the political life of the country was the main idea expressed at a forum of women’s organizations. Female representatives of the Kazakhstani society are planning to promote their initiatives more actively and support the political course of the “Nur Otan” National Democratic Party. Non-governmental organizations have merged with the Alliance of women organization of Kazakhstan for more effective cooperation. Specifically women are at the head of 80% of enterprises of small and medium-sized businesses in Kazakhstan. There are more than half a million female active members in the “Nur Otan” party – the greatest political association of the country. Meanwhile, women are in the minority in both the parliament and maslikhat. Before the 9th civil forum, Kazakhstani women are in the mood for taking constructive decisions.
Raushan Sarsembayeva, chairperson, “Association of businesswomen” regional public organization:
- We look forward to not just changes but drastic and high-quality changes in the life of every Kazakhstani citizen. It is impossible to do anything on this track without the help of women, their efforts and support. We aim at reducing the unemployment rate among women, as well as economic and political promotion of women.
The forum resulted in a memorandum on cooperation between the “Nur Otan” party and the National commission on affairs of women and family and demographic policy under the president of Kazakhstan.
