Interior Minister receives GCC Representative to UN

Manama, Jan. 3 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received Permanent Representative of the GCC Countries to the United Nations in Vienna Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh bin Ali Al Gheilani, in the presence of Southern Governor, Head of "Maan" (together) programme to fight violence and addiction and member of the National Anti-narcotics Committee Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa. The Interior Minister hailed the role of the GCC mission in enhancing ties between the GCC countries and regional and International organisations. He also praised its coordination role as part of the operations of the GCC General Secretariat. The meeting focused on topics of common interest and the importance of reinforcing partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in order to exchange expertise based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Interior Ministry and the office that was signed on February 27, 2014. The GCC official expressed appreciation of meeting the Interior Minister, lauding his views to enhance GCC coordination with regional and international organisations. (MOI)
