Interior offices ordered to beef up safety measures

BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) -- Permanent secretary of Interior Kritsada Boonrat reiterated to all provincial offices nationwide to beef up security measures for tourists, while ordering concerned agencies to inspect routes and risk areas for damages in order to make immediate repairs ahead of the coming tourist season. Mr Kritsada stated that he has ordered all interior offices nationwide to call a meeting with provincial level officials to inspect whether tourist destinations and services are safe enough for visitors, as there have been many reports of injuries and deaths of tourists recently. He also ordered that all concerned agencies integrate security operations and periodically inspect local tourist destinations to maintain the high level of security for visitors. He added that inspections should be made on risk areas and routes, so that immediate maintenance could be implemented if needed (TNA)
