Iran Envoy Welcomes Spain’s Interest For Learning Farsi

Madrid, Sept 22, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Madrid Morteza Saffari Natanzi welcomed here on Friday night, the Spanish’s interest for learning Farsi language.
He made the remarks in a banquet which was held in honor of participants of a conference on Persian language education.
“Farsi language teaching in Spain has a brilliant future; day by day, more Spanish students become interested to learn Persian language and attend the related classes.”
The high-ranking diplomat added that this is because of rich culture, the Persian language involves as well as nations’ interest to know Islamic Republic of Iran’s ideals after the revolution and its past civilization.
A conference on Persian language education was held at the Complutense University in Madrid on September 20 and 21.
Juan Martos Quesada and Damaso Lopez Garcia of the Complutense University, Alberto Cantera Glera of University of Salamanca and a number of other scholars presented their latest studies.
In addition, officials from Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) were also present at the conference, which was organized by the Iranian Cultural Attaché’s Office and the Complutense University.
Cultural dialogues are made practicable through languages. Thus, Spain and Iran should attach more importance to language education, ICRO Deputy Director for Educational Affairs Mohammadreza Dehshiri said in his speech at the meeting.
He said that most cultural misunderstandings result from unfamiliarity hence the duty of cultural officials is to introduce their nations to other parts of the world.
At the ceremony, the Iranian cultural attaché in Madrid Amir Purpezeshk also attended the conference.
He said that his office has organized some Persian language courses for children and adults in Madrid over the past few years./end
