Iran expects independent states to prevent warmongering

Astana, Oct 11, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the independent nations to prevent warmongering. Addressing the Tenth Conference of Eurasian Media Forum underway in the Kazakh capital, Mehmanparast said the independent nations bear heavy responsibility for bringing peace and security to the globe. He added this goal will be achieved through cooperation among the independent nations. During his speech, Mehmanparast focused on the issues ranging from international justice, respect for nations' rights and elimination of weapons of mass destruction. He then underlined that none of the powerful countries should meddle in the internal affairs of other states. The Iranian official stressed the need to brief the public opinion on the Western double-standard policies on the important issues of human rights and terrorism. In the meantime, he urged the independent nations to take every single opportunity, including this Media Forum, to mobilize efforts for helping resolve the global and regional crises. Mehmanparast referred to anti-Islam and anti-Iran measures as well as creating obstacles to regional convergence as moves by the bullying powers to pave the way for both terrorist and extremist groups to go ahead with their political agenda. Elsewhere in his speech, the spokesman underlined the western media campaign to advance their own political goals and said that they change the realities and pursue media hype in line with their interests against the other nations. He criticized the western governments for adopting concerted policies to put pressure on Iran to halt its peaceful nuclear activities and said that Iranian nuclear program is within the framework of Non-Proliferation Treaty at a time when certain countries possess nuclear arsenals. The Tenth Conference of EAMF kicked off in the Kazakh capital city Astana Thursday morning.
