Iran Ranks 1st In Terms Of Blood Products Safety Worldwide

Zanjan, Oct 16, IRNA – Gholamreza Togeh, head of Iran Blood Transfusion Organization, says based on the World Health Organization (WHO) announcement, Iran is among the world’s five top states in terms of high quality and safe blood products. Talking to reporters in Zanjan, Togeh said the donated bloods are tested from various aspects, including the C and B type hepatitis. Reiterating that Iran is among the top five successful countries in terms of healthy blood donation, Togeh said blood donation is done on a voluntary basis in Iran and this is a source of honor for the country. He said the plasma extracted from donated bloods is supplied to patients suffering from deficiencies of blood coagulation factors. He added that in addition to charitable motivations, religious beliefs encourage people to donate blood in Iran. The official stated that the services provided by IBTO comply with international standards. He pointed out that IBTO has increased the number of blood donation centers nationwide using the latest technologies to provide healthy and high quality blood products./end
