Iran's 1st VP : Salesmen Raising Prices Illegally Will Be Dealt With Seriously

Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA – Iran's 1st Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi referring to some recent price hikes in country said here Monday that those salespeople who raise prices illegally and illogically will be dealt with seriously. According to the information website of the Presidential Office, Rahimi made the statement in a session of the Bazaar Control Work Group. He further told the session that the need for supervision and awareness of the bazaar status is felt today more than ever before. Rahimi also asked the State Supervision Organization and the other supervisory organs not to permit a small group to trample upon the public’s rights more than they already have. Reports on the present day status of the market and the prices of major consumer goods, as well as the need for state presentation of some goods and the influential factors on goods’ prices were presented at the session and then there was a discussion about the matter. Surveying the hard currency and vehicle prices were among the other issues of discussion at the Bazaar Control Work Group. Iran’s inflation rate rose to 23.5 percent in the month that ended on Aug. 20 from 22.9 percent the previous month, the Central Bank said Monday on its website. While the Central Bank said in its report that inflation will continue to increase, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a televised interview late Sunday that “the inflation growth rate has declined this year. The inflation rate will decrease in the second half of this year.” /end
