King hails Bahraini-Kuwaiti historic relations

Manama, Feb. 20(BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa hailed deep-rooted relations linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait, commending steadily-growing cooperation in all fields. Receiving a Kuwait National Assembly delegation led by Speaker Marzouq bin Ali Al-Ghanim at Al-Safriya Palace, HM the King hailed advanced cooperation and concerted parliamentary coordination in particular. Al-Ghanim arrived in Bahrain, along with the delegation, on an official visit at the invitation of Council Representatives Speaker. He conveyed to HM the King greetings from the Amir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who wished Bahrain and its people further progress and prosperity. HM the King extended greetings and good wishes to the Kuwaiti leader, wishing his people further progress and prosperity. He underscored the importance of such fraternal visits which consolidate parliamentary cooperation and expertise exchange and contribute to developing democratic life in both countries. HM the King commended the crucial role played by Bahrain's Council of Representatives and the Kuwait National Assembly in bolstering joint bilateral relations and strengthening joint cooperation. He underscored the importance of bolstering GCC parliamentary coordination and cooperation so as to consolidate the Gulf organisation, unify efforts and defend Gulf issues, stressing the unified goal and common destiny binding GCC member states. He hailed the honorable stances taken by Kuwait, led its Amir, in support of Bahrain, as well as its pioneering role in supporting the joint GCC work, unifying stances and advocating Arab and Islamic causes and consolidating pan-Arab work. HM the King discussed with the National Assembly Speaker current Arab and regional developments of mutual interest. Speaker Al-Ghanim thanked HM the King on the warm welcome and commended royal keenness on strengthening deep-rooted bilateral relations, particularly parliamentary ties, hailing the rulers of Bahrain and Kuwait as one closely-knit family. Al-Ghanim praised the honourable stances of the people of Bahrain towards the people of Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion which, he said, reflects deep-rooted historic relations and common destiny. He reiterated the determination of the Kuwaiti National Assembly to continue cooperation with the Council of Representatives, hailing Bahrain's democratic strides, led by HM the King.
