KKMM Collaborates With UPU To Implement Easy Export Pilot Project Cooperation

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia) April 11 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia will be collaborating with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to implement the Easy Export Pilot Project Cooperation to help small and medium entrepreneurs to export their products globally using the postal network. The ministry's secretary-general, Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad said the project is the first in the Asia Pacific and Malaysia was chosen to helm cooperation with Brazil that has successfully implemented the project. "The national project will be launched soon and the initial phase has already begun that is the coordination between ministries, government agencies and business entities involved such as MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry), Matrade (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation), Pos Malaysia and the provision of facilities such systems, networks and infrastructure," she said at a press conference here Monday. She was speaking after a visit to the National Mail Centre, Pos Malaysia Bhd here, which was also attended by the chief executive officer of Pos Malaysia, Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh. Malaysia in October last year, was elected to the Postal Operations Council of Administration (CA) of the UPU, the main decision-making body of the United Nations agency for development and cooperation in the international postal services. Sharifah Zarah said the mandate as a member of the CA enabled Malaysia, especially the ministry to ensure the services provided by Pos Malaysia, especially in the e-commerce and e-fulfillment could compete nationally and globally. "Both of these programmes are implemented by the agencies under the ministry, namely the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) while Pos Malaysia is responsible for determining all shipments and their products reach the customers," she said.
