Kosovo's Foreign Minister On One-Day Official Visit To Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Kosovo's Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj is in Malaysia for a one-day official visit to pave the way for broader bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
Malaysia's Foreign Ministry in a statement today said the visit was the first high-level visit from Kosovo in four years.
The last visit to Malaysia from Kosovo was by its then Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, to attend the Global Summit of Women in June 2013.
During the course of the visit, the ministry said Malaysia's Foreign Minister Anifah Aman was scheduled to host a bilateral meeting with Hoxhaj.
The two ministers were expected to exchange views on a broad range of topics including bilateral relations and international cooperation, it said.
Hoxhaj was also due to meet with senior representatives of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), to explore collaboration in the areas of commerce and industry.
The ministry said since diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Kosovo were established on March 18, 2011, the two countries had maintained friendly ties and good cooperation, bilaterally as well as in the international arena.
"The visit highlights the positive momentum of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Kosovo," it said.
It was also a reflection of Kosovo's appreciation for the support Malaysia had provided ever since the former's independence in 2008, the ministry said.
"It signifies Kosovo's strong desire to learn from Malaysia's experience.
"As a respected regional and global player and a country with an excellent track record of developing its political, economic and social infrastructure, Malaysia is in a good position to offer its knowledge and expertise and is keen to work with Kosovo in nation-building efforts," it said.
