KPWKM To Organise Inaugural Ministerial-Level World Quran Hour Programme
PUTRAJAYA, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) is organising its inaugural ministerial-level World Quran Hour programme on May 6.
Its deputy minister Zailah Mohd Yusoff said the programme would also be expanded to more than 200 agencies and offices under the ministry including welfare homes run by the KPWKM.
"To ensure that the World Quran Hour programme reaches all KPWKM agencies and welfare homes in the country, we will also broadcast it virtually through various mediums such as Facebook Live.
"KPWKM welcomes such programmes and invites all staff throughout the country including our clients who live in welfare homes under the ministry’s purview to read the Quran together during the launch day," she told reporters here Wednesday.
On the selection of Surah Al-Mulk as the theme and focus for the recitation of the main surah (chapter) this year, Siti Zailah said it was important to understand the meanings in each verse in the surah and not just read it.
Siti Zailah said as a sign of support for the programme, the ministry had also created a ‘Quran Corner’ at the ministry's lobby which housed several copies of the Quran.
"The Quran Corner aims to make it easier for KPWKM customers who come for various matters (at the ministry) to read the Quran while waiting for their business to be completed," she said.
In the meantime, Siti Zailah invited Muslims to make the recitation of the Quran a daily practice and understand the verses and teachings of the surahs contained in the holy book.
"The Quran is a complete guide to life that should be a reference for all parties, and the Quran is not just about teachings and ‘akidah’ (faith) but it is also knowledge for us to achieve success in this world and the hereafter," she added.
The World Quran Hour programme, which is entering its sixth year, is organised by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) together with its partner Sinergi Media, and is themed ‘MengQurankan Bangsa, Mengikhlaskan Ummah’ (Quranising the Nation, Purifying the Ummah).
