Kurmangazy State Academic Orchestra turns 75
Almaty, November 27, 2009 (Khabar) - The Kurmangazy Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments has turned 75 years. One of the most famous musical bands of the country prepared a repertoire of 4 thousand musical items for this remarkable date. The top pieces were played at the anniversary concert in Astana.
Duisen Ukibai, Chief Conductor, Kurmangazy Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments:
- Every kyui and every song that we play sounds like an example of European classic music such as an aria or overture. Our folk composers such as Kurmangazy, Tattimbet, Dauletkerei and others were able to represent the worries of their people, the beauty of their soul and nature in their short kyuis.
- We came here from Saint Petersburg. We like everything. It was very beautiful. I was impressed.
- This is the music of my life. This band and I are of the same age. The music played by this orchestra has a deep sense and it shows the history of the Kazakh nation.
It was the Minister for Culture and Information of the country, Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed who congratulated the orchestra and awarded its musicians with certificates and Madeniyet Kairatkeri medals. The Orchestra is well known in other countries as it has been welcomed in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Finland, France, Portugal, the USA and others. This year, the band has also toured Western Kazakhstan, Germany and Turkey. Now, the orchestra is preparing to tour in Austria.
Duisen Ukibai, Chief Conductor, Kurmangazy Kazakh State Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments:
- We are proud of the fact that we represent our country and our art and culture everywhere. People admire our music and a great number of kyuis and our folk songs.
