LIMA 2017 To See Strong British Participation
KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition 2017 will see the participation of a range of world leading British technologies, as the United Kingdom looks to continue strengthening its industrial ties with Malaysia, especially in the defence and security sectors.
Minister for Defence Procurement Harriett Baldwin would lead a strong delegation to the event, scheduled to take place from March 21 to 25.
"The delegation will comprise the Head of the Department of International Trade's Defence and Security Organisation, Stephen Phipson; Air Officer Commanding 1 Group Royal Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal, Gerry Mayhew; and Rear Admiral Alex Burton, the Commander of UK Maritime Forces," said the UK Department for International Trade Defence and Security Organisation in a statement Friday.
Baldwin was quoted as saying that Britain would continue to strengthen its long-standing defence and security relations with Malaysia.
"We are keen to help solve regional security challenges with innovative British technology and support," he said.
Meanwhile, Phipson believed that it is important to work with Malaysia to create opportunities for UK and Malaysian companies to share defence and security technologies, as well as to create joint venture partnerships.
