Maiden Eaglexpress Umrah Flight Takes Wing Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The maiden Eaglexpress Al-Fajr Umrah flight will depart Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Wednesday. The airline, in a statement Tuesday, said the Eaglexpress team is now working with the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia to confirm the landing slots in Jeddah and Madinah. "Eaglexpress has conformed to all relevant regulations and safety standards to operate scheduled charter flights for the hajj and umrah from Malaysia and other countries to Saudi Arabia," it added. The airline has undertaken similar operations over the past five years in the Middle East. "This flight marks an important milestone in the company's development, as Eaglexpress is now moving from being a provider of 'wet lease' aircraft to become a leading private provider of scheduled charter flights for the hajj and umrah," it said. Eaglexpress, based at the KLIA, operates four Boeing 747-400 aircraft. --BERNAMA
