Malaysia Abides Protocol, Technical Standards In PISA - Education Ministry
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Everything related to the administration of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in Malaysia has been implemented well and in accordance with the protocol and procedures set in the technical standards, said a statement from the Education Ministry on Thursday.
It said these have been certified by the Director of Education and Skills and the Special Assistant to the Chief Secretary of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Andrew Schleicher in a video conference between the ministry and the OECD representative.
"Only the number of schools which responded is insufficient. However, the OECD will not disqualify the data," Schleicher said.
According to the ministry, several steps were being taken to improve the preparations for the implementation of PISA 2018.
"The OECD has identified several weaknesses in implementing computer-based PISA, based on the problems faced by most of the participants' countries," it said.
The statement said that the ministry had implemented PISA 2015 according to procedure and met the technical standards set by the OECD.
In the PISA 2015 results announced recently, Malaysia recorded an increase in the score of three PISA domains, namely science literacy, reading literacy and mathematics literacy.
PISA is an international assessment study to measure the achievements of students 15 years and above in science literacy, reading literacy and mathematics literacy, and is an assessment programme and international comparative study organised by the OECD.
The PISA 2015 assessment and study was held from April 20 till May 8 last year, with the participation of 72 countries.
